The Board of Health met on Thursday, February 4, 2010 and announced that the annual rabies clinic will be on Saturday, April 3rd at the Highway Department barn off Arch Street. They anticipate that the fee this year will be $12.00, to be confirmed.

A grant has been received by the board to offset expenses incurred to run the seasonal and H1N1 flu clinics. Stipends have been approved for medical staff donating their time and experise to the clinic, some payments for clerical support before and after the actual clinics, as well as material expenses related to the operation of the clinics. In addition to these expenses, the board authorized the purchase of computers and a printer in conjunction with the operation. This computer may also be utilized in the health office by regular staff.
The board is investigating contributing some of these funds to help the town's community notification system. sometimes referred to as reverse 911. This is considered appropriate use of the grant money as related to emergency preparedness.
The mission statment of the Board of Health is to promote and protect the health of the public. In this regard, the board is investigating the possiblity of providing anti-vericella immunization to members of the community. This is commonly known as the "shingles" shot.
The board will discuss the implications of the announced 3% budget reduction for the next fiscal year at their scheduled meeting on February 15, 2010.
