by Kristen Hedrick
September 20, 2017

Holliston parks & Rec is excited to announce our Thursday afterschool programs for kids in grades 3-5!  We have a bus that runs from the Miller Elementary school (grades 3-5) to our building at 1750 Washington Street so that kids can attend one of the following programs offered from 3:00 – 4:00 PM

 (NEW!) Viral Flix– Afterschool Movie-Making

Viral Videos grab our attention and this program gives kids the opportunity to create the same kind of videos we all love watching online. Unboxing videos, web series, review shows, top 10 videos, and many more... Students will work in groups to write, direct, film, and produce short viral video segments in a safe and fun environment! *Flix downloadable within a month after camp ends.

-Afterschool Dodgeball & Street Hockey

We’ll play all sorts of varieties of Dodgeball including Doctor Dodgeball, Zombie Dodgeball, Gauntlet Dodgeball and many more. In Street Hockey, you’ll have your chance to deke, dodge and score on all of your friends!

-Hip-Hop with Aly Pereira

Come join in on the fun of learning the latest dance moves to the most popular music out right now!   Students will learn various dances to popular songs.  The class incorporates choreography and different forms of freestyle movement.  At the end of the 8 week session, the children will have a short performance of their hard work.

Elementary drawing class with Young Rembrandts

We say farewell to summer in our detailed still life drawing of a beach. We explore color usage and composition in our chameleon and fire truck drawings. In keeping with the season, our stylized fall leaves drawing challenges our technique and color scheme. Our students will learn cultural themes as they draw and color Kawaii inspired art.

LEGO-STEM Fundamentals

Power on your engineering skills with Play-Well Teknologies and tens of thousands of LEGO parts! Apply real-world concepts in physics, engineering, and architecture through engineer-designed projects such as Bulldozers, Hovercrafts, Hot Air Balloons, and the Eiffel Tower! Design and Build as never before and explore your craziest ideas in a supportive environment.
