Police responded to a report of a deer struck at the corner of School and Washington Street early Thursday morning at 6:05 am. The deer was dispatched and the highway department called for removal. Twenty minutes earlier police were called to the town square for a report of a vehicle striking a trash barrel.

The vehicle had struck a lamp post and broke the decorative molding from the base at the corner of Central and Washington Streets.

In addition to the molding, a whiskey barrel planter, owned by the Downtown Marigold Project, was completely destroyed. Sgt. Matt Waugh and Officer Mike Woods investigated.

The vehicle was towed by Hometown Auto.
