Give Back to Givers Honors Student Volunteer Reese Benadon

by Press Release
December 16, 2017

Give Back to Givers is a 501(c)(3) certified non profit who’s mission is to promote the spirit of volunteerism in Holliston by organizing ways for people to show their appreciation to Holliston’s many volunteers.  Each month, a “Volunteer of the Month” is honored to highlight their service and dedication to the town of Holliston and to show how important volunteerism is to Holliston.  This December, Give Back to Givers decided to honor a student each week as a special “Volunteer of the Week”.  The community would not be as great without these teenage leaders and volunteers - their work is greatly appreciated.

Volunteer of the Week - Dec 7th — Reese Benadon

Last week, Alyssa Winn was featured as our volunteer of the week. This week, Reese Benadon, a sophomore at HHS is Give Back to Giver’s volunteer of the week! Reese loves dogs and does a lot for them while volunteering at a local shelter. Thank you for all that you do Reese, and don’t forget to check back next week to see another teenager doing great things for the community! Here’s Reese’s answers to our questions:

What is your current volunteering position?

Currently for volunteering, I work at an animal shelter called Save a Dog. Save a Dog is located in Sudbury, MA.

What made you want to get involved in volunteering?

I’ve been wanting to volunteer for awhile and I was trying to think of something to do. My mom brought up Save a Dog and I instantly wanted to volunteer there because I love dogs and I wanted to help them feel loved.

What is your favorite part of volunteering?

My favorite part of volunteering is getting to help all the dogs and it makes me feel good. When I leave the shelter, I think to myself “Wow I can’t wait to go back in two weeks”

What have you gotten out of volunteering?

What I have gotten out of volunteering so far is that it is good to help other people or other living things. I’ve also learned how appreciative people are when you take time to volunteer. Most importantly, I’ve learned that volunteering is fun and it just makes you feel good!
