HIB Gets Down to Business
The folks at Holliston in Bloom (HIB) are about to swing into full form for the coming planting season. Word has arrived from the National America in Bloom organization that judges will arrive in Holliston from July 18th-21st. A judges reception is planned at the Holliston Historical Society for July 19th.
With little activity in the planting arena this Spring, HIB has conducted several fundrisers including a St. Patricks Breakfast with the local Friends of the Community Farm which garnered each organization over $1,000. A Go Fund Me site: https://www.gofundme.com/helphollistonbloom was set up this spring to help fundraising efforts. The group is also selling keepsake Andrew School bricks which can be obtained from the Mayor at 508-429-6763 or by emailing mudvillemayor@gmail.com The bricks were a donation from builder Steve O'Leary. O'Leary also donated the spire from the Andrew School which will be auctioned off here on the HollistonReporter.com. The Andrew School bricks will be available also at the HBA's Spring Stroll on May 19th.
Again on tap will be another Spring Fashion Show. HIB's Pat Duffey is handling arrangements for event which will be held in Upper Town Hall on May 20th from 2-4 pm. Tickets are on sale at the Superette, Fiske's and Town Hall.
HIB will be holding Spring Cleanup Days on May 5th and 6th from 9 am - 1 pm. Residents are asked to meet at Blair Square with gloves and rakes. This year the group is joining under the banner of Keep Mass Beautiful Project https://keepmassbeautiful.org/
Also on tap for this coming Spring/Summer will be the revitalization of the border garden along the sidewalk at the town's Central Burial Grounds. The effort will be overseen by Ahronian Landscape and the Downtown Marigold Project through the generousity of a Bald Hill Road resident. A future Eagle Scout is in charge of the project. HIB's website can be found here: /http://www.hollistoninbloom.org/
Fashion show tickets can also be purchased from the hollistoninbloom.org website under events, then click on the PayPal link for tickets.
