Holliston Remembers Its Fallen Veterans

Lake Grove Cemetery was first to be visited by the delegation, led by Parade Marshal Peter Gullinitz, front right, and Past VFW Commander Ralph Stover.

The Ghelli and Kampersal family above came to pay their respects. 2018 will mark the 50 year anniversary of Cpl. Thomas Ghelli's death in Vietnam and only two days ago WWII veteran Richard Kampersal passed away.

Reverend Scott Foster of the First Baptist Church led the group in observance of Memorial Day followed by a salute by the Honor Guard and TAPS by Anna Damigella and Hazel Peters.

Alan Greendale led the firing squad in three rounds of volleys.

Next was a ceremony held at Saint Mary's Cemetery with Father Mark Coiro of Saint Mary's Church presiding.

Two Hiolliston veterans met for the first time and thanked each other for their service. Vasco Brovelli, above left, was in the Army and served in North Africa and other theaters. Bob Hopkins served in the Marines and saw action in Burma and other places.

New to Holliston is Navy Cmdr. John Benda who is currently seving as the Executive Officer of the USS (Old Ironsides) Constitution.
