Wrestling Holy Moly!

by Press Release
January 15, 2019

by John Gagnon

Attention all you sport fans. I have gone to many football games, track meets, baseball games, etc., but I have never gone to a high school wrestling match or any other wrestling match, that is, up till 3 years ago.   Well do you all know we have a small but growing, heck of an impressive wrestling team, right here in this sleepy little town of Holliston? Why I am writing this? Because there seems to be little to no news coverage on the HR and the local news papers on these rugged talented Holliston wrestlers. I hope to help change the misconception of these serious, dedicated hard working, studious young individuals.   My son comes home his sophomore year saying, “Mum, Dad, I am joining the High School wrestling team.” Ok, it’s all new to us, and we felt that it was just another sport. We said “Go for it!” Two weeks later, with intense workouts, practices, teaching each other old and new moves, they are ready for their first tournament. My better half and I will never forget (incredibly awesome) how intense and that we were on the edge of ours seats the whole time. So, if you have never watched a wrestling match (a real one) and you’re a lover of sports, it’s a must see! This Saturday, Varsity wrestlers are hosting a quad tournament (Holliston and 3 other schools) and Sunday will be a Junior Varsity tournament, both at Holliston High School.   What we are hoping for is to inform the community, young and old, to come on down and check it out, support the team and see what REAL wrestling is all about! You might end up seeing a bloody nose, no worries, the trainer comes out, gives the once over, maybe a plug up the ole nostril and away they go, back on the mat.    We the parents, and a number of volunteers, will have a concession stand to help raise some much needed funds to help out with traveling back and forth to other tournaments, equipment, mats, etc..

So, Saturday 1/19 and Sunday 1/20 @ 10.00am sharp @ the Holliston High School gym. Bring a date, your better half, kids, grandparents, family and friends (no pets). Let’s get involved folks. Come on down to watch the boys and girls wrestle. Yes, I did say girls. They can wrestle too and they do!

Come support the Holliston Wrestling Team

Go Panthers!
