Holliston Seniors Celebrate St. Pat's Day in Style

by Chris Cain
March 21, 2019

Most folks observed St. Patrick's Day on Sunday the 17th.  The Holliston Seniors kept the festivities going on Monday the 18th with the annual St. Pat's Day luncheon.  If you enjoy corned beef with all the fixin's and Irish tunes, the Senior Center was the place to be at noon on Monday.

There was a sea of green in the dining area.  The corned beef, potatoes, carrots, and cabbage were all boiled to perfection.  To make it official, there was Irish Soda bread for all (although locally sourced not from the Emerald Isle).

During and following the meal, the Senior Center's musicians-in-residence, the "O'Tune Timers" provided Irish classics and tunes to dance to as well.

As always there were several door prizes (although none of these prizes look like a door!).  Some folks had the luck of the Irish when their number was drawn and they got to take home a 'non-door' prize.

Thanks to the subsidy from the Senior Support Foundation, the 501c3 charitable organization that provides so much of the funding for events and programs at the Sr. Center throughout the year, the donation per person was kept at a reasonable price.  Hence another sell out crowd.

T'was a great day for the wearin' of the green!

A Walk on the Moon

by Paul Deschenes

Where were you when ...? Some historical events and personal milestones have more significance than others, as do certain anniversaries, such as 1st, 25th, and 50th. Two significant historical and personal events coincided/collided for me on Sunday, July 20, 1969. It was my first full day in the Army and an earthling walked on the Moon.
