MA Cultural Attractions for Your Summer Enrichment

This week’s offerings for Free Fun Fridays, courtesy of the Highland Street Foundation, include 10 winners for fun and enrichment.  You alone, with a friend, a child or grandchild will find hours of cultural entertainment awaiting you at your desired location.

There is a link to each website and a brief description of each.  Check out some of the links, as sometimes a location has an entire day’s schedule planned for Free Fun Friday.

Location: Hunnewell Building, along Meadow Road & the whole Arboretum!

Enjoy free activities from 10am-3pm.  Enjoy activities like:

Arborist Station - Meet an Arboretum arborist. See the arborist in action. Try on arborist protective gear and get up close and personal with the special tools used by arborists.

Watercolor Station - Become inspired by the beauty of the Arboretum and use that inspiration while creating a watercolor masterpiece.

Storyboard Walk – Read a book while exploring the Arboretum.

The Building Lab - Create your own fort under the lindens. Use branches pruned from trees in the Arboretum, bamboo and other found objects to construct a one of a kind fort.

“FREE FRIDAY - OPENING OF EXHIBIT CELEBRATING THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE MOON LANDING  Mr. David Meerman Scott will give a talk about his experiences with the Apollo space project.  Scott is the co-author of Marketing The Moon: The Selling of the Apollo Lunar Project and also was a consulting producer to the PBS American Experience mini-series Chasing the Moon.  He will display and explain several artifacts from his collection including such items as command module, a LRL moon rock container, a lunar meteorite and an Apollo 13 training star chart used by the astronauts on their missions for the lunar landings.”
