The Kindergarten teachers at the Placentino Elementary School recently received a grant from the Holliston Garden Club. This award was used to purchase two honey locust trees from Weston Nurseries for the Preschool and Kindergarten playground.
Kevin Norton, a landscape designer and contractor from Holliston, planted the honey locust trees, as a donation to the school. After planting the trees, Kevin Norton & Company, graciously purchased and planted two additional honey locust trees. The four honey locust trees are now a wonderful addition to the playground.
The newly planted trees will help prevent sun exposure and heat exhaustion by providing natural shade and a safe shelter for the children. In addition, the Kindergarten teachers plan to use the trees as an educational opportunity that connects to the Massachusetts Science Learning Standards.
The Kindergarten teachers wish to thank The Holliston Garden Club and Kevin Norton and Company for their very generous donations.
