Aristos Chapter Inducts 32 New NHS Members

Annual induction of new members of the National Honor Society took place Wednesday evening.

Thirty two additional students, four from the Class of 2012 and twenty eight from the Class of 2013, became members of the Aristos Chapter of the National Honor Society Wednesday night in the High School Auditorium joining thirty-six present members.

This year's officers include (l to r above) President Emily Stebbins, and Vice Presidents Ashley Higgins, Taylor Savage, Caroline Clancy and Jordan Sostilio.

After a processional and welcoming remarks by society advisor Marilyn Miracle, Principal Michael Cournoyer congratulated the students for the level of committment they had signed up for. Superintendent Brad Jackson (above) told Aristos Chapter members that to perform their concept of community service would not require them to spend their life in a village in Africa.

If there was a memorable moment during the evening, it came from Mr. Richard Boles a retired teacher who was honored as the chapter's newest honorary member. Boles spoke of choices and attitude, character and reputation. "Reputation is what others think of you, but character is what you are when no one else is around," Boles told the audience. Boles also told a little tale about a grandfather and a grandson walking along the beach. As they walked the grandson would throw each starfish he came upon back into the sea. After a while the grandfather said, there's miles and miles of beach and hundreds of starfish, it really doesn't matter that you throw each one back into the sea. To which the grandson replied "it does to this one".

New members of the Aristos Chapter include: Class of 2012 - Ross Camiel, Gina Destefano, Conor Doyle and Julohn Teixiera. Class of 2013: Amber Ahronian, Bijan Ameli, Maxwell Athy, Grace Ballenger, Carolyn Barone, Stephanie Berard, Eliza Chemini, Anna Dellicker, Mackenzie Denker, Christine Devens, Ben Drebing, Adam Greenberg, Leighann Kelly, Nicole Kerrigan, Lindy Kyger, Suresh Manian, Katrina Milbocker, Michael Nesbitt, Danielle Potemri, Peri Prendergast, Elizabeth Racine, Roland Schuster, Robin Stopa, Sydney Strzempko, Tiffany Toronto, and Sarah Yarashus.

The Honor Society officers thank advisor Marilyn Miracle (above right). Refreshments were served in the library.
