Support Popular Teacher

by Bill Tobin 12/10/11

Popular Holliston High teacher needs support, and C&R Hot Dog and Fiske's General Store are doing their part.

Doug Lack needs a new kidney and you can help his cause.

Popular Holliston High school art teacher is waiting for a kidney donor and his friends and students are raising funds to help him.

Doug has been a teacher at Holliston High for 13 years and has earned the respect of his students and fellow faculty.  In 2006 he received the Massachusetts Art Education Association Educator of the Year award and is frequently voted the most popular teacher by the senior class.

In 1992 Doug was diagnosed with granulomatosis with polyangitis. This is a rare autoimmune disease that has damaged his kidneys to the extent that he is now seeking a living donor to replace his kidney to prevent dialysis. His friends and students are raising money to help defray the costs associated with the transplant and Doug hopes also to donate funds to help his donor and the related expenses.

On Tuesday, December 13th, the C & R Hot Dogs on Washington Street will donate 20% of all lunch specials that day to support Doug. Carl Damigella, the C in C&R, was himself a kidney recipient in 2006 and realizes what Doug is facing in his future.

Enjoy lunch and support Mr. Doug Lack.

John Paltrineri proprietor of Fiske's General Store is joining in the support by offering to match dollar for dollar the amount raised at C&R on Tuesday. John hopes other business and organizations in Holliston will follow his lead and help with this cause.  Double your contribution and enjoy your hot dog too.

Mr. Lack, above, has the support of his students as evidenced in a scheduled Art Gala on January 21, 2012 from 1-5PM a the High School. This Art Gala is an art exhibiit, sale and auction and will feature crafts for children, a bake sale and refreshments with live music provided by students.  This event by the way is organized and under the direction of high school freshman, Joey Pagano.

Any support for this popular art teacher is appreciated.
