Pantry Shelf Offers Christmas Dinner

by Bill Tobin 12/18/11

Volunteers assembled boxes of assorted food for families in need this Christmas.

As of this date, 84 families have requested support from the Food Pantry for their Christmas dinner.

Sunday evening at the Food Pantry was a busy place as 18 volunteers assembled boxes of food for the 84 families that have requested help this Christmas.

All the dinner boxes are identical and filled in assembly line manner.

The Greenberg twins, Max and Alex of Holliston, and Ted Estey of Sherborn exemplify the good deeds of teenagers.

Ten year old Austin Moloney sorted the food in the back room for the assemblers.

Board member Bob Nemet made sure everything was in order

Pantry Shelf President Carl Damigella and Pantry Shelf Secretary Peggy Robinson are in conference.

Eighteen volunteers did a great job in assembling the Christmas dinner boxes.

Board members present were Carl Damigella, Peggy Robinson, Ed Moloney, Bob Nemet and Sylvia Stickney. Other Holliston residents were Gary Mottau, Austin Moloney, Steve Bradford, Alex Greenberg, Max Greenberg, Peter Sullivan, Cindy Sullivan, Tony Polise. Sherborn residents Ted Estey, Nate Estey, Gwen Hummel and Deborah Hurley have been assisting the Holliston Food Pantry for several years. Not available for the above picture was Holliston resident Stephi Lamkin, but she was a great help with the project.

The volunteers had tough decision on Sunday, the Patriots or Pantry Shelf--they made the right one.

This the menu and contents of the dinner boxes, with the perishable items added at time of pick up.

We are fortunate to have volunteers who give their time and effort to such a worthy cause. There are currently 162 Holliston families receiving assistance from the Pantry Shelf. thanks to the generosity of residents of the town and organizations like the Lions Club, Democratic Town Committee and activies such as the recent Pasta with Santa at the Fairview at Pinecrest.
