Ag/Com to present Vanishing of the Bees movie at the Middle School...

Tony Lulek of the town's Agricultural Commission announced that the showing of Vanishing of the Bees will be shown at the Adams Middle School on March 9th at 7 p.m. Admission is free, although donations will be accepted for the Commission's "Fence Fund". The fund makes purchases to fence in the Community Garden on Prentice Street.

The film is less than 90 minutes long and a panel discussion with local farmers will be held following the conclusion of the film.

2013 may be a whole year off, but Ag/Com members plan on giving residents something to look forward to this fall in the form of a "Back to Nature" calendar. The commission presented their first calendar in 2006 to much humor and controversy. Taking part in that first calendar were 12 locally known figures including the Town Administrator Paul LeBeau (above) and the entire Board of Selectmen, Carl Damigella, Will McColl and Andy Porter. Commission members via the HollistonReporter.com extend an invitation to the present board of selectmen to show townspeople in this poor economy that "less is more". Commission chairwoman Donna Kramer said six years is just about the right amount of time to reintroduce the popular fundraiser.

Beth Rossi from the Fairview at Pinecrest was present to discuss plans for the commissions second "Culinary Event" which will offer locally grown produce along with a farmers market. Scheduled for Sunday August 12th at Pinecrest Golf Club, residents will also be able to visit the Ag/Com's Community Garden which is located at the rear of the parking lot. Deb Moore of the Golf Course Advisory Committee accompanied Rossi. Last Year's event at Pejamajo's was cancelled due to Hurricane Irene.

The next meeting of the Ag/Com will be on February 15th.
