Doug Lack Art Show

by Bill Tobin 1/21/12

The fundraising arts and crafts show for Doug Lack was a success, in spite of the snow.

Support for art teacher Doug Lack was obvious on a snowy Saturday.

This program in support of Doug Lack as he awaits future surgery was initiated by his freshman student, Joey Pagano. His initiatve mushroomed and a committee was formed with other high and middle school students and teachers to make the day the success that it was.

Doug was greeted by former students, felllow teachers and friends throughout the afternoon.

Local artists and craftsmen had their works on display and available for purchase.

Craft tables were popular with kids of all ages too.

Face painting was of interest to many, including some high school teachers, no names mentioned.

Origami was another favorite table

Oliver Gagnon proudly exhibits his art work, a water lilly.

Fascinating wire sculptures designed by middle schoolers were displayed

A studio was dedicated to displaying Doug's art work. Note the  baseboard in the room was lined with a variety of empty prescription drug containers that represent some of the many durgs that Doug has taken over the years to keep him alive. Doug has been diagnosed with granulomatosis with polyanghtis and chronic kidney disease.

Doug ststed  that he is overwhelmed with the great support he has received from the students, colleagues and the communtiry to help him meet the obligations of his upcoming surgery. The funds donated to him will be used to offset the co-pays, and out of pocket expenses not covered by insurance. He is most grateful for this tremendous response and support.

Students  donated their time and effort to sell tickets, organized and ran the bake sale and other fund raising activities of the day. Leighann Kelly and Ryan McGee are on duty checking in the many visitors to the art show.

This winter scene is an artists rendition of what we experienced  on Saturday.
