Late Morning Crashes

by Bobby Blair 2/6/12

Two simultaneous but separate crashes occured Monday just prior to noon.

The vehicle below stuck a tree in front of 6 Westfield Drive shortly before noontime. One person was transported to Milford Regional Hospital. Officer Scott Downey investigated.

At the same time, a highway truck lost its top portion when the driver forgot just how low the Exchange Steet Railroad Bridge really is. Chief John Moore and Sgt. Glenn Dalrymple investigated. There were no injuries except for a red face or two.

The damaged portion was scooped by up by the Highway Dept. front end loader.

If there is any leftover paint after the town hall is done, maybe they can cover the graffiti so that 'LOW BRIDGE' is visible.

Citizen2- I love it when people don't leave names ! Just a correction - the accident happened at the Exchange St. Bridge- and i'm sure it wasn't done on purpose . Brett Morrison - oh wait should I change that to Citizen3 !!!!

That's one way to get a new truck from the taxpayers. This town cracks me up. How can a Highway Department worker forget how low that bridge is? Give me a break! I can barely fit through it with my minivan. I bet it really went down like this. Bill (town worker riding in the truck says to his passenger Joe) "This truck is old and a piece of junk. I want a new one!" Bill says to Joe (the other town worker riding in the truck) "The taxpayers will never approve another vehicle, they just bought the fire department a new one and are in the process of repainting the Town Hall for the 2nd time in 8 years". Bill says to Joe with a smile "Were you born yesterday? If you want something new in this town you have to whine excessively or crash it!" Joe smiles and they both laugh as they drive under the Arch Street overpass"
