Thomas H. Willey, 79, of Ashland, passed away, Wednesday February 15th after a long illness. Born in Natick, he was the son of the late John and Gertrude (Ainsworth) Willey and husband of the late Jeannette (Bonvini) Willey who died in 2008.
Thomas grew up in Holliston before moving to Ashland where he coached Ashland Youth Hockey and served on the Planning Board. He loved playing cards, especially Pitch, spending time with friend and family and traveling. Mr. Willey served his country honorably with the Army during the Korean War and was awarded two bronze stars. He was a member of the Ashland Legion James O'Carey Post 77 and Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by three children: Robert E. and his wife Cheryl of Ashland; Arthur J. of Ashland and his former wife Joanne of NC; and Carol A. Bent and her husband Harry of Bellingham; four grandchildren: Jennifer Roddy, Kristin Bent, Jonathan Willey, and Arthur (AJ) Willey; and one great grandson, Colin James Roddy.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday February 20th at 9:00am in St. Cecilia's Church in Ashland with burial to follow in St. Tarcisius Cemetery in Framingham. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 3:00-6:00 PM in the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main Street in Ashland.
