A Big Green Thank-You
by Mary Greendale 6/10/12
A big thank you to Jeannie Murphy, Meg Porter and Kathy Shore for the make-over … of the traffic island at the corner of Washington and Summer Streets (Route 126).

This is another beautification project undertaken by volunteers in anticipation of the judging of Holliston for the America in Bloom national competition. The judges will tour the town July 19 and 20.
This island was long-neglected until neighbor Jeanne Murphy corralled her friends, Meg and Kathy, to pull out tree stumps, cut brush, yank weeds and conquer scrubby overgrowth. They turned the soil and prepared it for planting sometime this week.
Meg Porter, owner of The Constant Gardener, pruned the old crabapple tree that has been defoliated by winter moths for two years in a row. It looks great now.
Thanks so much to all of you.
