
HPD & HFD Press Conference: October 1, 2012

October 1, 2012. The chiefs of Police and Fire provided attending media with summaries of activities since September 17, 2012.
Chief John Moore opened with a review of incident highlights. There was a serious motor vehicle accident on the 23rd on Highland Street involving a young driver and injuries to passengers. A warrant of arrest was served on a defendent for intimidating a witness (Framingham Police assisted).
During the reporting period, there were 21 incident reports, 9 arrest reports, 7 crash reports, and 591 log entries.
Department highlights include:
Holliston on Patrol on HCAT features a tour of the Police Station.
Capital request filed for the Special Town Meeting for three replacement cruisers at a cost of $98,000.00. Two cruisers will be turned in and one will be passed to the auxilliary police. From here on, the request for vehicles with be back to the normal two vehicles per year. Also requested is a photo ID card maker for $2,200 to replace an old machine. HPD charges $10 to $25 to vendors, last year taking in $1,600.

On the 29th, Detective Todd ran the Prescription Drug Takeback Initiative. Two large containers were filled with prescription drugs for proper disposal.
This unit is located in the HPD lobby and is available 24/7 for proper disposal of drugs. Needles are not accepted.
Chief Michael Cassidy reported that the Fire Department responded to eight fire incidents and had 28 EMS incidents since September 17, 2012.
Department highlights included instructions on child safety seats at Celebrate Holliston. Chief Cassidy lectured to HHS students on head and neck injury, and participated in the MA Fire & Life Safety Education Conference in Westford.
Upcoming events include a lecture on Sports Injury Prevention on October 9, 2012.
