Brewfest 2012 was Huge Success
by Bill Tobin 10/12/12
THe second annual brewfest sponsored by the Holliston Business Association and Fifth Avenue Liquors at the Holliston Historical Society surpassed expectaions.
Over 550 people tasted, judged and enjoyed beer and companionship on Thursday, all for a worthy cause.
The crowds came, 550 tickets sold before the event (a sell out), to sample the beer provided by 30 distillers and distributors on Thusday evening at the Holliston Historal Society at the Brewfest sponsored by the Holliston Business Association and Fifth Avenue Liquors.
Thirty tables were set up in a large tent with beer samples to satisfy all tasters. There were lagers, ales in a variety of flavors, each with an interesting name. Something for everyone.
The sampling began at 6:30 pm and ended at 9:30. The tent was crowded, but no one complained as the sampling continued.
The barn was the place to get a hot dog from Dogs on Fire, or chili or a hamburger from the Superette, crepes from Pejamajo Cafe, or sweet candy from the Candy Cottage. Pizzas were also available courtesy of Bertucci's, who generously donated the pizzas to the HBA.
And the barn with the varied menu was as popular as the tent.
A silent auction was also a popular spot in the barn.
Entertainment was provided by two Holliston goups, above are the Hill Billy Pop singers, and below is Morris Les and the Stray Tones.
These two local bands were in a tent next to the barn, and their music was amplified inside the beer tent for all to enjoy.
Note that that our local dignitaries enjoyed the evening as well.

Thirty local businesses sponsored the thirty distributors as detailed above. Their sponsorship contributed greatly to the success of the evening.
Note well that 100% of the proceeds from this Brewfest benefit the Holliston Community Action Fund. This fund is an emergency grant fund designed to provide timely financial assistance to Holliston residents in need.
