Old Coots Tractor Pull

by Paul Saulnier 10/21/12

Holliston's own Jack Anderson is set to put his 1951 John Deere Model B tractor to work at Shady Oaks Farm in Medway, on Sunday, October 21, 2012.

HollistonReporter.com is pleased to offer improved video beginning with this article. To see Jack in full screen, click on the icon in the lower right corner of the video after starting the video.

About a dozen tractors, large and small, lined up to pull ever increasing dead weights loaded on a sled until only one was left.

Jack got his first antique tractor, a model L, as a 50th birthday present from his wife many years ago (does she have a sister, Jack?). This round he pulled 4,000 pounds.

Dave Chartrand, a Holliston Highway Department employee, also participated.

Frank Stirzaker, above, started Old Coots about 25 years ago, presumably planning ahead to when he would qualify. Frank runs Old Coots Tractor Shop in Franklin.

Gerry Mac of Southwick brought his 1938 Unstlyed A to the pull, the oldest in the field this day.

Great artical about a terrific group of guys! If you haven't come down to the Old Coots' Tractor Pull yet, make sure to put it on your calendar for next year - bring the kids and lawn chair! And when Jack is pulling, cheer really LOUD - he's my Dad! (Nice job, Daddy!)
