There's Still a War On

by Bobby Blair 10/28/12

Names of dead return for a one week stay ...

With a hurricane and national election on the radar its easy to forget we're at war. The Charles F. Duford Post #47 American Legion will post the names of those killed in Iraq and Afghanistan since Memorial Day 2012 on two sided posters on local telephone poles on Sunday, November 4th. This November's display will conclude the tenth year which the local post has remembered those troops, both U.S. and Coalition who have died.

With the addition on Sunday November 4th, the Legion will have displayed the names of 8,017 troops who made the ultimate sacrifice. Those wishing to view the short documentary about the project called Streets of Honor, Roads of Sorrow filmed by former resident Max Esposito and may have missed it last Spring can view it here http://vimeo.com/43006564    The film is titled The Man with the Signs.

Those wishing to help place posters on November 4th can meet at 57 School Street at 7 a.m. Please bring a heavy duty staple gun.
